My Story

Hello! My name is Tracy Boone and I'm the creator of therapy in a box! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor out of Lawrence, KS. I specialize in  working with kids/young adults with a variety of issues, that include: serious attachment issues, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, anxiety and  depression. One of the constant themes I strive for in my private practice is incorporating a variety of daily skills to increase mental fitness. Skills that kids/youth can grab a hold of and easily incorporate into a daily routine, without looking like the  "odd child" out, and that they can use anywhere: at home, at school, in the community. The more tools the better when feeling emotionally or mentally in need! I have been putting together boxes with my own clients for years, and have found that they work AMAZINGLY well! So one day I sat down with my family and we decided these boxes just might have a bigger purpose in a world and time where there is great need for mental health awareness and decided to offer them to the public, and Therapy in a Box was born.

I have put together monthly boxes with  a combination of self-help skills, I believe will spread education, awareness, and a variety of self-help skills into monthly themes that kids can try out, learn and incorporate into a daily routine to increase mental fitness, each with a fun and different theme! All boxes are carefully put together to provide a coping skill, self-care tool, mindfulness challenge, fidget, a feel good and a surprise and sprinkled with a little love.  Our mission is to spread mental health awareness, and education through  empowering kids with the encouragement and practice of creative self-help ideas, that may aid in strengthening mental fitness.  Our ultimate goal is to provide healing and ending the stigma of mental illness.  How amazing would that be, if our kids practiced mental health hygiene EVERY DAY, just like brushing their teeth!

Therapy in a box is not intended to replace therapy, but its a great start on a fun journey to increase knowledge of emotional well being and health and to incorporate fun skills/tools into a fun, easy daily routine.
